ER Speaks. February 22, 2019 4:54 pm ER

Apparently the Mueller report is only a few weeks away (It was postponed today, but it is certainly coming soon). Are we taking any bets, organizing a pool?

Let do some predicting. Here’s mine.

I think what we will learn about Trump would be enough to get any other President impeached, if not arrested outright. At the very least, it would cause any other President to resign immediately in shame. And I don’t doubt some of his cronies will get jail time. However, we have been fantasizing about this so hard and for so long that the reality can never meet our expectations, and even if only by comparison, will appear pretty tame. That, plus the iron grip the Trumpers still have on the Senate, the courts, Fox and the knuckledraggers, will work together to keep him in the White House until the next election.

We have become inoculated to scandal, and we are suffering from a terminal case of chronic outrage fatigue. So unless we experience a military humiliation or an economic meltdown during the next two years, we may wind up with another two years of Trump. Or even six.

Sorry, but that’s the way I see it. What do you think?
