Heard on the radio today…
A woman in Brazil has sued the father of her baby for child support, but the accused and his identical twin both claim paternity. It is possible to prove through DNA testing that one of them is the father, but not which one.
Rather than let them off the hook because the true father cannot be unambiguously identified, the judge ruled both brothers be compelled to pay the full amount, giving the mother twice the support she is entitled to by law. I suppose one is responsible, and the other is by his own admission an accessory after the fact and equally guilty, hence equally liable.
Yeah, I know it sounds like an apocryphal story, an anecdotal feel-good fake news item, but it’s still good to hear.
