If there's anything we've learned about Conservatives is that they care about nothing but "protecting our interests"---not the country, not national security, not their friends, not their colleagues, not their honor. All they really care about is the bottom line; what's in it for them. And even those not directly involved in their crimes feel compelled to help cover them up because they recognize themselves in the criminals they make excuses for. Thirty pieces of silver just doesn't go as far as it used to.
