I can’t say this too much, or too loudly. Long after Trump is gone and his policies historically discredited, we’ll still have to share this country with a great number of people who either agreed with him, or worse, didn’t but were still ready to look the other way and ignore his barbarities for reasons of their own. Long after Trump vanishes they may stop covering for him and making excuses for him. They may even publicly condemn his grotesque buffoonery and his vengeful self-serving narcissism, but they will still be there patiently waiting for his reincarnation.

Think McCarthy, Wallace, Bork, Reagan, Gingrich, Cheney, Cruz, McConnell, Bolton… The infection may be slowed, but the wound never really heals properly. This isn’t about philosophy, politics, class, ideology or culture, its a disease of the blud. They carry it inside them, like syphilis.
