Well, I've gotten to the point where humanity is living in an enlightened future where there is benign Capitalism, no government, no nation-states, all the fundowackos and Deplorables have been self-deported to Ameristan and society is run by benevolent non-profit corporations and foundations chaired by virtuous wisecracking thirty-somethings with Ivy League degrees in STEM and Law. Meanwhile, all remaining intrusions to privacy and threats to freedom by high tech and Big Data are being ruthlessly stamped out by autonomous bots and apps dedicated to protecting our privacy and defending humanity from corporate greed. What could possibly go wrong, eh?

Its sort of a millennial Paradiso; an alternative Indy Galt's Gulch for liberal Stanford grads. Actually Ayn Rand Land seems preferable to me so far, (or at least, more realistic) but I'll stick with it until I figure out how Dodge is getting along. Maybe he's having better luck in the Cloud.

However tempting it might be. But yes, there is a certain amount of foreshadowing in that first chapter.

When I turned the last page a few days ago, I wanted to turn the first page again, just to see how the beginning ties to the end.

I am a prolific dreamer - almost annoying. Movie length plots, interesting settings, and the occasional gravity defying flight. I'll wake up and the dream will resume like I had hit pause. Mornings for me are a matter of rebooting much as Neal describes. Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee: I'm still loading reality apps.
