Remember when you took on that label as a badge of honor?
Fun times right?

Did you have any inkling then just how far down the deplorable path your man would lead you?

Did you think you would be standing on the same side as white supremacists and neo-nazis? Did you think you would be defending the caging and sexual molestation and murder of refugee children?

Did you you think you would be ridiculing assault and rape victims?

Did you think you would be Advocating for concentration camps on our border where human beings are abused and held in inhumane conditions?

Did you think that you would ever support a man hurling racist rhetoric from the white house lawn?

Yet here we are… and there you are…

You probably still claim to be proud to be a ‘deplorable’ – and maybe you are, but now you are more careful about the company you are in when you make the claim… Why do you think that is?

Perhaps you realize that- even in the eyes of the person you were 3 years ago- you really have become something deplorable, the person you were would never have felt pride in what you have become.

Perhaps you suspect that this path you have taken, the one that has led you into this dark cesspool of racism and fascism, has no end in sight- and you sense its leading you further and further down into filth.

Perhaps you understand that the ‘you’ 2 years from now will support things even more deplorable than you do now, and it scares you- because the only way to avoid it would be to turn back now… but turning back now would mean admitting you threw away the values you once held for nothing… and you know that you don’t have the courage to do that, you know that you would willingly support ANY atrocity rather than face that truth.

I genuinely wish I could end this by offering you some directions to a path of redemption, but the fact that you have stayed on this path so doggedly- ignoring all the warning signs- refusing to even explore the off-ramps… well, we both know its too late for you- there is no redemption for you, because it would mean facing what you have let yourself become.

Let’s just be brutally honest- you will trudge down this path until you have cast aside every last shred of your humanity- and once you have thrown away that encumbrance you will then take off running down to the inevitable end of that path-

That is exactly what you would do- IF WE LET YOU.

So there you are, and here WE are- you chose your side, and you will have to live with that the rest of your life.

WE will stand against you, and if history is any indication, we will win… But if we lose, we can live with that. We can live with ourselves being on the losing side, if it was the right side.
But the question that should worry you, that should keep you up nights is “Will I be able to live with myself if my side wins?”

That is a question that I can assure you with %100 certainty you WILL have to answer- it will perhaps be the last question you ever ask yourself… and no matter what your answer is, it will bring you no comfort.
