Anyone taking the time to look at it would have known that global warming was no longer in question, and that opposition to it was motivated by purely political, economic and ideological reasons. In other words, the denialists either don't care a disaster is looming in our future, or they somehow feel that their own financial position will somehow protect them from it. They figure they'll be able to buy their way out of it so they can't afford to spend any of their personal resources trying to avoid it. I think everyone pretty much agrees on that by now. Its to let those who tried to delay or obscure this realization that we know who they are and why they did what they did.
