However, the institutions (Justice Department and Federal Court and Penal systems) have been under solid Republican control for almost three years now. If there is any sinister conspiracy involved in Epstein’s demise (and I’m still not convinced there is) it is going to be interesting to see how it plays out in the public debate in the near future.

Jeffrey Epstein, the financier who hanged himself in a federal jail in Manhattan, was supposed to have been checked by guards every 30 minutes, but that procedure was not being followed the night before he was found, a law-enforcement official with knowledge of his detention said.
In addition, the jail had transferred his cellmate and allowed Mr. Epstein to be housed alone in a cell just two weeks after he had been taken off suicide watch, a decision that also violated the jail’s normal procedure, two officials said.
The disclosures about apparent failures in Mr. Epstein’s detention at the Metropolitan Correctional Center deepened questions about his suicide and are very likely to be the focus of inquiries by the Justice Department and the F.B.I.

I am the first to call out a conspiracy theory as nonsense… but you really have to go through contortions to dismiss this as an innocent mistake…

“I was appalled to learn that the hen was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in the henhouse,” the Fox said. “The hen’s death raises serious questions that must be answered.”

In addition to the Fox, the Inspector General, the Justice Department’s internal watchfox, will open an investigation into the hen’s death, the Fox said.

It is quite possible that he did commit suicide, however it is a clear certainty that – at the very least- a decision was made to allow him to do so.
