I won’t be the only person to think up the notion of starting up “Antifa” chapters all over the country, to bury this bullshit in ridicule and noise. Imagine the black “Antifa” T-shirt sales!

Never forget that one of America’s finest moments was its membership in the coalition that killed five million Nazis in World War II. To be anti-fascist is to be patriotic.

The protesters in Hong Kong have adapted a Bruce Lee line: “Be strong as ice, be fluid like water, gather like dew, scatter like mist”. “Be Water” for short.

What they and Antifa have in common is that neither has a formal organization. There’s no entity “Antifa” to go after, no “Hong Kong Central”, just people of conscience who get the word through electronic channels, gather and protest, then scatter like mist.

I would have to disagree that there’s “no ANTIFA”. There most certainly is, and there are countless images and videos (and court cases and cracked skulls) to prove it. But nothing a fascist-leaning government can grab on to. That’s by design–this (Antifa and HK) looks to me like a set of tactics that would naturally evolve in the midst of a 21st century surveillance state. Whether China or America. And I think it’s quite workable, because they’re using technology in place of organization; what, after all, is an organization but a big carbon-based communication system?

Silicon is faster, electrons are invisible, and it can all be encrypted.

Thank about that: You can encrypt your organization.

The word is an acronym, not a club. It is used loosely to describe ANTI-FAscist organizations of all types. Still, if he can succeed in going after a straw man like this, what’s to stop him from unleashing the security forces of the state on Occupy, Feminazis, Ecofascists Jihadists, fake news media, liberal elitists or any other group seen as a threat, even if there is no outfit that can be clearly identified as an organized cadre?

Trump is simply floating an idea to see how many squeals of outrage he can provoke. Its like flinging pasta at a wall to see if it sticks. If it is circulated by the press and no one complains too loudly, and if his knuckledraggers express enthusiasm, it will become a tool in his saddlebag that can be quickly dusted off in the future to give pseudo-legitimacy to some paramilitary or law-enforcement action against his opponents.

“ANTIFA” is a catch-all term that can be used against generic enemies, like “terrorist”, or “Socialist”. The Russians and Chinese have been playing this syntactic game for years, using words like “bourgeosie”, or “imperialist”.
