Yesterday, on her televised show, conservative talk show host Lara Ingraham set out a steak, put incandescent light bulbs on it, and attempted to inhale it through a plastic straw. The purported purpose of this exercise was to ‘trigger’ liberals…

“Well, it’s a meal that will trigger all the right … I meant all the left people,” she said to kick off the “Ingraham Angle” segment.
“Okay, you ready? Are you really prepared for this?” she asked her viewers as an alarm blared and the camera pulled back to reveal what she called “the ultimate trigger sculpture.”

“It has everything the Democrats hate,” she said, advertising the art project. “If I could have put an SUV on this, I would have.”

As the hunk of impaled beef sat before her, it occurred to Ingraham that straws don’t tend to work when used to consume solid objects.

Now, I can’t say that I was particularly ‘triggered’, and for the life of me I cannot think of any liberal I know that would be particularly outraged at the act itself.

I mean it certainly is a foolish and silly thing to do, it seems like a waste of steak…
What IS galling is the cartoonish characterization, the oversimplification and vilification , of the ‘liberal agenda’…

She almost certainly knew we would not freak out at seeing steak and incandescent bulbs on TV, she wasn’t really hoping to ‘trigger’ Democrats- she was hoping to trigger her own brain-dead followers against Democrats. She wanted her followers to be outraged, she wanted to sell them a cartoon of the environmentalists, she wanted them to take delight in the idea that this silly display was somehow ‘sticking it to the libs’…

Because THAT is what sells to the conservative masses- not policy, not fiscal responsibility, not family values, not what will make the country a better place for them and their children… what sells, the ONLY THING THAT MATTERS, is ‘sticking it to the libs’…

THAT is how we ended up with Trump- and no matter what atrocities he commits, as long as it upsets the Democrats, the conservatives will embrace it and defend it…

That is all they stand for now, they have no other values left- spite is their platform.

Meanwhile Trump is tweeting Breitbart articles on how liberals are advocating cannibalism to help the environment, and Democrats and the media are enemies of the people.

The only agenda here is division… They are trying to appeal to the basest nature of a sizable minority of voters. The goal is to encourage enough people to become so deplorable that they feel there is no way to turn back… isolate them from decent society, and chain them to unthinkable atrocities so that they are terrified of a return to normalcy and the judgement that would bring upon them.

There is no way this ends well… there is no way this ends with the next election. The Republicans have intentionally created a monster in a last ditch effort to cling to power, and they do not care what destruction it does to our nation. They threw away all their ‘values’ in the process. They are aware of this- and what they fear most is being held responsible for their actions. As long as Trump is in power they can escape accountability – this is why they will do ANYTHING to keep him in power…. sabotage election security, suppress the vote, accept foreign interference.

And if they still manage to lose the next election, they will not accept the loss peacefully.

It is a vicious circle- They do terrible things because they fear being held accountable for what they have already done, and the more terrible things they do to avoid accountability, the more they fear being held accountable, so they are willing to do even more terrible things.

In the end they will prefer total destruction of our nation to the judgement they have earned.
