...because our sudden unplanned retreat didn’t leave us time for any other strategy to prevent it from falling into enemy hands."

It reminds one of similar events in history...

...the last helicopter leaving the US Embassy in Saigon
...the Allied evacuation of Dunkirk
...Roman Britons watching the last legion climbing aboard ships bound for Italy

Perhaps you are collecting you belongings and waiting for the train to come to a nice quiet out of the way station... you plan to casually take your hat and coat, nod politely to your fellow passengers and make a hasty exit as silently and unobtrusively as possible...? Then slip into a washroom to scrub off the stink?

You should have taken a closer look at your ticket when you boarded the train... you should have listened to the countless people that warned you...

There are no more stops, you are on the express train now... you didn't get off when you had the chance- when you had the DUTY AS A GODDAMN HUMAN BEING- to get off the train. You might have gotten off in Florida when he publicly asked the Russians to aid his campaign, or maybe you could've gotten off at Charlottesville, though that would have been a bit late... but you decided that you found the wild unpredictable ride exciting- like a reality show, but with human lives as the stakes...

But now, well... you are on this train until it goes off a cliff or smashes into a brick wall. After all, you didn't rush for the exit when children were being caged and taken from their parents...

So now you have to resign yourself to gripping the edge of your seat with white knuckles, perhaps occasionally yelling encouragement to the conductor, since he alone can fix this, he alone controls how bad the crash will be, he alone holds your fate in his hands. He is all you have left, really. You threw away your values many stops back, because he assured you the train had no room for such baggage. It was slowing him down.

So, what are your plans now? Are you hoping that in the chaos and confusion of the inevitable crash you can pretend you never were on the train? That won't work, your family and neighbors saw you board the train, you proudly showed off your tickets- and gloated loudly when you got your seat. We all know who and what you are.

Perhaps you hold out hope that you can somehow atone for what you have done? Nah- you know, WE know, you don't have that kind of character... if you did you wouldn't be on the train in the first place. Besides, you do not have the years left to atone for what has been done in your name, and especially not for what remains to be done in your name.

The ride will get so much worse before it is over, and all you will do is hold on for dear life. You don't have the courage to jump off- if you ever had any courage or principles to begin with, you had to sell them to pay for your fare.

So relax, try not to think about it too much... just look out the window and watch the country go bye...
