Apparently this operation was endangered by Trump's pullout of Syria. Military leaders slow walked the pullout and accelerated the strike so we could get it done while we still had the assets in the area to do it. Our special forces had to fly over hostile land we had occupied only weeks before. The chaotic situation in Northern Syria made for a much more dangerous mission.
