We had been searching for weeks without being able to find a freezer with a definite delivery date...

Either a LOT of people are having the same concerns I have about the coming fall, or the supply chain is severely broken... or both...

But with 24 total cubic feet of spare freezer storage (not counting our kitchen fridge) we should be able to really stock up.

They're hard to find. Got one that's garage rated back in January. Turns out most 'fridges don't work in a cold garage.

We've had good yield this year, best cucumbers ever, seems the grow better in containers than the ground. Didn't get the tomato blight many others have. Maybe it is using our own compost? Or that we are mainly growing with a variety originally from Siberia that we have been hybridizing. Good squash, too.

Spending time getting ready to cover everything tomorrow and see what survives the snow. Good thing we have tons of Remay cloth at the ready. Glad we are getting precipitation, though, the smoke is thick enough to taste right now.

Lots of investment, and little return- but next year there will be very little expense involved since the expenses were mostly the startup costs of buying fencing containers decent dirt etc...

We started late and made a lot of mistakes we wont repeat next year...

We have reached the point where we have to freeze some of the yield (mostly the beans) and I am hopeful that we will have enough potatoes and sweet potatoes for a couple of months....

we would be rolling in zucchini were it not for the squash vine borer....

Cost per ear saver in materials is ~$0.05...
The group I was printing face shields for just got a request for 5000 face shields for the USDA...

The group I was printing for was concentrating on supplying Baltimore hospitals, but the peak need has passed in Baltimore.

There is another group in DC which is still turning out shields for hospitals - DC isn't past the peak yet. They also ship them to other hospitals in need.
I may start printing for them.

My wife was supportive of me getting the 3d printer, but I think she became a true convert when she couldn't find a bias tape maker to use for making masks- they were all sold out online, and I was able to print her 4 different models overnight using maybe a dollars worth of filament.

I've been thinking about doing a time lapse of the people walking down the sidewalk or in the park access trail out back.
