On the other hand I have read enough of history, and of the fascists publicly announced positions, to know that is a waste of time, and suicidal.

It is dangerously stupid to even pretend that the trash that voted for this, that supported this, have a ‘point of view’ that deserves to be listened to and treated with respect.

They don’t.

They start with a foundation of rejecting objective fact and reality… and then build upon that a framework of conspiracy theory to buttress their bigotries and justify the bloody atrocities they fantasize of committing.

You don’t reason with that- you fight it as harshly as you can.

The gap is closing. Georgia is now 50/50 in D/R votes, with Biden just two votes away from Trumps. The gaps in the other states have fallen too, with Pennsylvania and North Carolina both roughly 40,000 and 80,000 votes away each. There are still shy of a million votes to count for each, so results, even though they were expected today from PA and GA, will likely come in tomorrow, or the day after, instead.

At this point, Nevada and Alaska, while still counting, have become irrelevant. As long as the Red Corner either maintains control of their current states, or the Blue Corner manages to wrest at least one away, then the election is all but decided.

We have passed the 11th hour, and are now 5 seconds from midnight. One way or another, we are waking up to a changed world in the morning.

It is not just the RIGHT of every american to treat those that support fascism, the killing of our fellow americans, and the kidnapping of children as effing psychopaths that need to be condemned, criticized and ostracized… It is the DUTY of every american to do this.

In every way legally possible their lives should be made painful and difficult. It might make a few re-evaluate their evil souls, and thats good- but most importantly it sets an example for future generations- “We- as a society- refuse to accept this”

When RobVG celebrates the ripping of children from their mothers, he should not be allowed to live that down. He should be treated like the malignant disease that he is. He should not be made welcome among decent people.

We are NOT dealing with people that happen to disagree with us and just have a different but valid point of view. We are dealing with bigoted violent zealots that reject objective fact and get a thrill out of inflicting suffering on innocent victims of circumstance.

They fantasize about being able to take up arms against those they dislike. They want to kill.

Rhetorical flames against these barbarians isn’t just acceptable, it should be mandatory… because they are dreaming of the day they can throw us into the literal flames.

So yes, flame these bastards- take every opportunity to ostracize them, make sure their children are taught that the views of their parents are abhorrent and to be repudiated. But most importantly, use every legal means at your disposal to make sure these bigoted, bloodthirsty bastards are never allowed to have power again.

Personally, I can’t stress enough the fact that this means holding off on flaming each other – if all you throw around is fire, you can’t complain that you’re surrounded by ash.

Since there seems to be no change in the election situation, I won’t bother with another update until tomorrow. I will, however, leave you guys with this interesting bit of math.

According to Reference.com, the estimated population of America is 327,167,434 citizens. Of those, about 253,768,092 are of majority age(18 or older) – a 77.6% of the national population, who can legally vote. Out of the voting population, so far 140,675,937 ballots have been counted this election, according to USAToday – more than any other election I can recall in my lifetime (A recurring thought these past two days – for reference, I was born in ’92). That means as of now, at least 55.435% of the voting population – 42.998% of all Americans – have cast their vote this year.

Broken down, 72,075,753 of these votes are Democrat, with 68,600,184 going to the Republicans. Percentage-wise, that’s 22.030%/20.968% of the national population, 28.402%/27.032% of legible voters, and a split of 51.235%/48.765% for all those who voted.

Fractions like those do not delineate a United States of America. The Atlantic was painfully correct in identifying our nation as split in two, with both factions in the midst of a Cold War. When Rome was split between east and west, there were no winners – the only outcome being one side died out quicker than the other. After an Empire is split in two, their strength, and the strength of their name, is forever lost.

Biden’s on a comfortable path to win the Electoral College. Trump’s legal challenges seem a bit pro forma, as if the lawyers were promised billable hours, and by god, they’re gonna do Stuff they can bill for.

The Senate’s looking increasingly distant. Which means that Biden’s presidency, while almost assured, is also DOA as long as McConnell draws breath. Biden holds one veto, Mitch the other. That’s a Republican Standoff.

I put off the hair of the dog till this evening. I didn’t feel that great this morning, even though I really didn’t drink that much. Must be age.

Or just living in the Age of Trumpism. At the crack of dawn, I couldn’t get over the fact that the election is so close, when Trump is visibly a pile of human garbage. What the hell is wrong with America?

Time: 6:45 P.M.

Things are CLOSE here. Biden’s managed to win Michigan in a surprise victory. At this point, Nevada doesn’t matter – he only needed Pennsylvania for a (barely) guaranteed victory, and should he win either that, North Carolina, or Georgia, for all practical purposes, the election’s in the bag.

The Senate remains evenly matched, in a display of will I’ve never seen in my lifetime – both corners are committed to victory, and won’t yield a single inch. In the House, the Blue Corner is making headway, leading the Red Corner by over ten Reps. Should the trend continue, we can see anything from a deadlocked Congress (again, something I’ve never seen in my lifetime), to a slight, but significant Democratic majority. Not the two-thirds majority that guarantees radical control, but a majority nonetheless.

Earlier, when ER compared the election to Midway, forshadowing a “Guadalcanal”, I added that after Guadalcanal came Iwo Jima. While a suitable analogue, right now it feels more like Stalingrad.

Not one step back, comrades – in the end, there can only be one.
