…if he had simply embraced masks and social distancing. If he had followed the science. If he had the decency, the humanity and the common fucking sense to simply say, every time he spoke, that people should wear masks and social distance, he would have gotten reelected. And probably by a wide margin. His cult followers would have blindly followed him wherever he went. He could have prevented at least 100k deaths. Why he did not do this I will never fathom. The only reason I can think of is he was so in over his head, so utterly incompetent on what to do, that he defaulted to his norm of lying and bullshitting, when the truth would have served him better.
