The Redneck Right did it to Obama, too, with the Birther fantasy.

And those in the GOP who support it hope to ride this issue into increased political support from the trogs and knuckledraggers in the GOP. Do you really believe Cruz, Pence and Hawley actually believe this nonsense? That it might actually stop the inauguration? Of course not, but they are willing to publicly pretend they do. And so do the rest of those 140 House Republicans. They are determined to keep the MAGA crowd together, a viable political force that can be depended on to move predictably. And if street fighting breaks out in the nation's capital, well so be it. Its the price they are willing to pay for lower taxes, no abortions and less government regulation. Besides, you know they will only blame it on antifa.

We are witnessing political cynicism on a truly cosmic scale. The only other scenario I can recall that remotely resembles this is how German Capitalists, Conservatives and aristocrats supported Hitler because they felt he was useful for their anti-Communist, anti-union and anti-democratic agenda, and because they felt they could easily control him and his followers. We know now how that turned out.

Anyone else care to argue how 2020's Amerika isn't highly reminiscent of 1920s Deutschland? Its the same thing because the same ideological, economic cultural and political interests and principles are involved. And the same kind of people are involved.
