Exciting times for volcanologists, even the casual ones. Iceland’s fissure eruption now has six different splatter cones; and, on the more felsic side, La Soufriѐre continues to spew ash.

It’s a private satellite providing radar imaging. https://www.capellaspace.com/Since it is radar, it can cut through volcanic ash and look right down the throat of a volcano. Stunning! A few days ago there was a volcanic dome here – actually two domes – and now it is a deep hole spewing frothy lava into the atmosphere.
