Thanks for the clarification, podrock. I'll stop trying to be funny now.

I'm suitably impressed at both scales. Thanks for the pix, pod.

Clarification:

The first two photos are from Iceland, where the currently six vents are splattering and oozing. It's a real tourist attraction now. I've heard more than thirty thousand people have visited. I so want to go! So far these are small, but they are productive, and are filling the valleys with basalt. If they keep going a nice mountain will grow.

La Soufriѐre is a mountain, a quite impressive edifice. The last picture is a radar image looking down its throat. Too bad there is no scale. Using Google Earth measuring, that hole is about 700 meters in diameter.

Like, I guess, most people, I hear "volcano", and I picture something massive, an angry mountain. Something much larger than life.

That was my assumption about La Soufriѐre. So when you pointed out the humans for scale in the previous post, the perspective shift was a little mind bending. It brought me back to reality, reminding me of the more human scale of active geologic features like Yellowstone and Mammoth Lakes. And it's mind-bending in its own way, people standing next to a volcano taking selfies. Whoaaaaaa....
