Conspiracy theory-endorsing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) probably shocked no one with her latest anti-evolution declaration about science.

“I don’t believe in evolution,” the QAnon adherent told former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon on his “Real America’s Voice” podcast this week.

“I don’t believe in that type of so-called science. I don’t believe in evolution. I believe in God,” Greene continued, gesturing with air quotes during a discussion about the potential origin of the coronavirus.

And they also share a slick, well-financed and expertly crafted propaganda machine designed to appeal to existing fear, hate, ignorance, greed and bigotry. This is classic Fascism at work, and trying to explain it away in sociological, historical, psychological or cultural ways is pointless. These guys are using a tried-and-true playbook. The point is to destabilize a society by destroying confidence in democratic institutions so they can replace it with emotion rooted deep in the limbic system. It’s lizard brain logic.

It’s the way oligarchs enlist the middle classes to collaborate with them to overthrow democracy. If it looks like European Fascism of a century ago it’s because IT WAS MODELED on Fascist Europe of the 1920s. It may not be identical to the Fascism of Mussolini, Hitler or Franco because the geography, culture and history have changed, but the ideology is the same. It is designed that way because it has worked before. Of course, as Hitler, and later, Trump, demonstrated, sometimes the Frankenstein monster created by the oligarchs seizes control of the movement…

And its not just here, we can see the same process at work in Russia, China, Belarus, Poland, Hungary and a dozen other places. The world is turning Fascist because that is what the middle classes do when they feel the political and economic gains of their recent past start to unravel. They are looking for scapegoats and easy answers and there are always those (with their own agenda, of course), ready to provide them.

“COVID is a HOAX! COVID is no worse than the common cold! COVID is a terrible bioweapon unleashed by China! COVID was created by Bill Gates to implant trackers using the vaccine!”

January 6th was a justifiable militant act by patriots! January 6th was peaceful, akin to tourists! January 6th was a violent terrorist act by antifa agitators!

They have a multi-billion dollar media operation pumping out delusions for them- to make them feel good about being what they are, while at the same time stoking their delusions of victimhood… whipping up their outrage over fictional oppression.

Fauci is the ‘villain’ in their narrative, so now the guy and his family need security due to the death threats.

Its not about facts or reason, it is about what makes them feel good in the moment…

You cannot reason with them…

I do not see democracy surviving this much longer.

Hell… civilization cannot withstand the rising global tide of authoritarian idiocy… and as it gets hotter, I fear the whole world will burn.

Registered nurse Joanna Overholt, testifying before the Ohio House health committee about what she said were potential coronavirus vaccine dangers, tried to use her own body as proof.

Overholt said she heard during lunch that vaccines cause magnetism in humans, so she decided to prove her point on herself by attempting to show how a bobby pin and a key would stick to her exposed skin.

Spoiler alert: It didn’t go well.

“Explain to me why the key sticks to me. It sticks to my neck, too,” Overholt said. “So, yeah, if somebody could explain this, that would be great.” The nonmagnetic aluminum key actually fell off her neck as soon as she removed her hand.

The false vaccine magnetism theory was brought up earlier during the hearing by Ohio physician Sherri Tenpenny, who has been cited by a watchdog group as a member of the “Disinformation Dozen,” the 12 people responsible for 65% of anti-vaccine misinformation shared on the Internet.

“I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures all over the internet of people who have had these shots and now they’re magnetized,” Tenpenny said, according to the Columbus Dispatch. “You can put a key on their forehead, it sticks. You can put spoons and forks all over and they can stick, because now we think there is a metal piece to that.”

I really doubt our democracy can survive this epidemic of idiocy that has consumed conservatives.
