FrankC- lamely played the part of a serious intellectual conservative here- not very convincingly, of course, but he tried.... but in the Trump years he came out of the closet as a armchair warrior for the white nationalist cause... TB fancied himself a true conservative, thoughtful and principled... since he had an IQ of perhaps 105, he thought himself to be a genius - destined to be a brilliant polemicist- rallying the less cognitively capable conservative base with his words... but when Trump came along insulting everything TB claimed to stand for... well, TB shamelessly whored himself along with the rest of the republican rabble. Jody, well she tried to play the genteel elderly southern belle- but she was rolling in the gutter of bigotry the moment Trump took the stage. All her righteous indignation about the abuse of women apparently only rose up when it was a club to use against Muslims - not a peep from her about the rapists and wife beaters Trump brought into the white house and supreme court. She reveled in being a 'deplorable'... because it is what she always was. They all stripped off their costumes- expecting an orgy of winning... instead they are left standing naked and exposed for what they are... and instead of facing their stupidity, and owning their foolish mistakes they slip into delusional conspiracy.... They are angry that they lost. They are angry that they are a minority. They are angry that they trusted Trump to make them winners and were betrayed. They are angry that they revealed themselves only to have the rest of the world recoil at what they showed. They have jumped off the cliff into the abyss and have no way to scramble back to firm ground... But they will try to drag as many innocent people off the cliff with them as they can before they go down. When they have humiliated and exposed themselves so completely, its nearly impossible for them to admit to themselves what they have done... They will gladly kill rather than face that truth... and I suspect they will do that more and more in coming years. Republicans used to have the reputation of being rather dull and colorless; regardless of what you might think of their politics, at least they were conventional, low key, you know, <em>conservative</em>. Now that they've convinced themselves they're accepted, they're starting to reveal their true colors. Have these vampires been walking among us all this time and we just didn't realize what they were really like? Or are they suddenly transforming into these zombies right before our eyes? Did Trump cast some kind of spell and invoke the demons of Right Wing Sheol, a GOP Gehenna? They are not the successors of Eisenhower, Goldwater, Bill Buckley. or even Nixon.
