But perhaps its even more sinister than that. Perhaps they are deliberately trying to provoke a devastating flare-up of the virus, or the spread of lethal mutations of it, so they can then point to the alleged ineffectiveness of Biden and Fauci prophylactic measures. I really believe that if a million dead result from virus flare-up over the next few months the GOP really believes they can ride that wave to victory in the next Congressional mid-terms. At the very least, I'm sure they're aware that if Covid diminishes to background levels, they will fear that Democrats will use it as a campaign issue. The comparison to Trumpian measures will be inevitable. What characterizes modern Conservatism is not just a legitimate questioning or criticism of Liberal policies and proposals, but an attempt to deliberately generate catastrophes which can then be blamed on the "Socialist Dems". Am I out of line here? Remember "We must do everything we can to ensure that Obama is a one-term president." The GOP-led Senate opposed anything the Democrats tried, even if it was policies that had been supported or even put forward by Republicans in the past. Even popular Democratic bills which the GOP knew they could defeat easily they refused to bring up to a vote so they wouldn't have to go on record as voting against them. As for evolution....you don't hear them bringing that up much any more, do you? Even global warming is a subject they are increasingly hesitant to discuss any more. Gay-bashing is out this year, too, along with Muslim rapists and Mexican gang paranoia; Americans no longer seem to be outraged by LGBTQs. I wonder what the next arena for bigotry is going to be. It looks like Asians are the Jews du jour this year.
