The reason, to prolong the health crisis as long and increase its severity as much as possible so the Dems and the Biden administration can be blamed–all in time for the next election. As with general legislation obstruction, the climate crisis, and the gun epidemic, the GOP has shown itself to not so much be determined to stop bad Democratic policies as they are to obstruct and derail good ones.

This is political terrorism pure and simple: the use of violence and fear of violence to spread distrust in the government and force change in government policies. It is fundamentally no different to burning crosses, blowing up government buildings or burning down churches. The goal is not just attacking political opponents as it is to convince those who are uncommitted that new leadership is needed to get tough on issues where the legal authority is obviously powerless to do anything.

Most Conservatives feel incapable of understanding this, and Liberals apparently are afraid to admit it to themselves. But I am certain that those who are masterminding this program know exactly what they are doing and why.

I guess this is what the pundits call “an inflection point”.
