I last visited there briefly 9 years ago... the miasma of failure, of manufactured white grievance, the absolute PRIDE in ignorance there was soul-crushing. The racism, the sickness, the cruelty, the brutality I experienced there... and they chose all that, they celebrate it, they are proud of it. Yes, they suffer from it as well, but they inflict the pain on themselves and then blame powerless minorities for the pain... and make sure those minorities suffer EVEN MORE. Because no matter how much they are suffering, if they can inflict GREATER suffering on others- that makes them 'winners'... And now that insane logic has gripped the GOP as a whole, and is dragging our nation off a cliff. I hated it then, and it has gotten far worse since I left. I made the mistake of looking at what Oklahomans are saying about mask mandates and the vaccine... over 600,000 dead and the life expectancy of the US has dropped by ~18 months... but the pro-life crowd insists its no big deal... and mask mandates are SOCIALISM!! One smugly pointed out that more Oklahomans die from cancer each year, so COVID is not cause for taking all these actions... (Cancer kills ~8500 oklahomans each year, covid has killed ~7500) I pointed out that COVID has killed over 10x more Oklahomans than car accidents do each year, but there is a mandatory seatbelt law, tests to determine that you don't present a hazard to others while driving, requirement to have documentation showing that you are licensed to drive... The response was I was obviously a damned liberal and not worth talking to... Meanwhile COVID is surging again, but Oklahoma will continue killing its kids to own the libs... and will be smug about it...
