Any facts that show they are wrong must be part of some elaborate conspiracy by their foes, and they feel compelled to respond ruthlessly. Consequently, they find it impossible to concede anything their opponents say. "They" MUST be wrong about everything because they are evil. Like fundamentalists everywhere, the True Believers are fighting under god's banner, and even the slightest concession is apostasy. You cannot debate, reason or find common ground with these people.
