It is hit or miss- some places have huge Time Banks that are very active, others have no activity at all…

Don’t consider this a definitive list- I am sure there are many time banks not included on the list… I just searched and several active time banks I know of in my area, including the one my wife works on, are not included on this list.

I know some Time Banks set up tutoring for students during the pandemic- I don’t think there was much in the way of background checks- since it was all virtual the risks were somewhat lower…

In general it is a way for adults to exchange services with other adults- for instance we have gotten rides to and from the airport through the time-bank, help with the yard work, financial advice etc…

I’m wishing her a speedy recovery. The surgery was certainly the right choice, I was rushed in to surgery for an already ruptured organ (not the appendix) which had been undiagnosed and I wouldn’t recommend it being that late.

The time banks sound like a great idea, I’ll have a look locally as I could maybe use it to do some work with children who need help as I have all the necessary security clearances.

You made the right choice on surgery. That thing pops and trouble happens, quickly. My father-in-law had an intestine that was a few hours away from bursting. So glad I told him, and I mean TOLD him to get to the hospital. Not easy to tell the old man what to do, but he did it. Doc said he was just in time.
