But the majority of the pols and media who are pushing this crap know exactly what they are doing. Highly educated people pretending to be bumpkins because they know their voters are bumpkins.

Does the fake psychic know how to cold read, to lead, to use magicians’ tricks to take money from the rubes? Of course they do. Now there are some of the religious types that truly believe what they peddle but very few. Most know how to keep the tax-free donations rolling in from little old widows with an unsupervised check book so they can buy private jets.

Same with the hosts of Fox “News”, fully vaxed, telling their loyal audience to not get vaxed. Or saying 1/6 was a peaceful protest after texting in alarm to the Chief of Staff.

Or the snake oil supplement crowd.

The most of them know exactly that they trade in lies and fear for their own profit and power.

And did you notice how all the “fixes” recommended involve increasing Federal
control and participation in administering elections. So much for Federalism and “local control”, “giving power to the states”, and all the usual Conservative talking points. The Republicans are always accusing the Democrats of “overreaching”, and centralizing the election process when the left tries to make the vote fairer, more widespread, more inclusive, and easier for minorities. But when it comes to counting and tabulating, they’re (the Right) all for overreaching, centralized, Federal control themselves.

What is scary about this document is not just the skillful interweaving of half-truths and allegations into a narrative that appears well researched and compelling. That’s what lawyers, propagandists and marketing weenies are trained to do. Its the kind of reasoning you see them use when knocking global warming, or debunking the carcinogens in cigarettes, or pointing out how Obama is a Socialist Muslim born in Kenya. Its the kind of pseudoscience Nazi academics spun together to prove how the inferior and corrupt Jews were exploiting and oppressing the Aryan Master Race.

No, what’s really scary is how these messages are targeted, not at knuckledragging troglodytes in the flyover, but at the movers and shakers of the ownership class and their wholly-owned political representatives. I know the world is full of clever but unprincipled opportunists, but its terrifying to think how the people who run and own this country are as stupid as they really are.
