I would not be surprised. That pass is always windy. But I haven't seen a source for that wind reading. Got one for me?

A friend in Colorado Springs (100 mph +) has a tree on his car. Was afraid of another tree coming down on the house so he spent the day in the garage without power. Said he's never been through anything so scary.

The strongest wind I have ever experienced was also in Colo Sprgs, 1981, took part of my parents' home roof off. 112 mph.

A clip from CNN

<a href="https://www.cnn.com/videos/weather/2021/12/16/weather-wind-dust-storm-colorado-kansas-orig-jk.cnn/video/playlists/wicket-weather/" rel="nofollow">https://www.cnn.com/videos/weather/2021/12/16/weather-wind-dust-storm-colorado-kansas-orig-jk.cnn/video/playlists/wicket-weather/</a>

At 20 seconds into the video.

This was shot about 2 miles NE of our house. The color is correct.

Luck, topography, something, kept our winds not as high as the 93 mph on the other side of town. No damage here. But listening to the radio scanner there was lots of trees on powerlines. Our fire departments jumped on any report of smoke. Which was good, we had our bug-out bags next to the front door, just in case.

But when the front rolled through it was really amazing You might have seen the pictures and videos. Woke up at 7:00 to a yellow sunrise and a wall of cloud to the west. Then the cloud collapsed like a wave with high winds, horizontal snow flurries, and darkness. Very spooky darkness. Less than half an hour later it was just sunny and windy.

Thanks for asking.
