<blockquote><a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/12/31/1068930675/us-election-coup-january-6-military-constitution" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">As the anniversary of the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol approaches, three retired U.S. generals have warned that another insurrection could occur after the 2024 presidential election and that the military could instigate it.</a>

The generals – Paul Eaton, Antonio Taguba and Steven Anderson – made their case in a recent Washington Post op-ed. "In short: We are chilled to our bones at the thought of a coup succeeding next time," they wrote.</blockquote>

<a href="https://www.newsweek.com/2021/12/31/millions-angry-armed-americans-stand-ready-seize-power-if-trump-loses-2024-1660953.html?amp=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">"There are lots of fully armed people wondering what's happening to this country," he says. "Are we going to let Biden keep destroying it? Or do we need to get rid of him?</a> We're only going to take so much before we fight back." The 2024 election, he adds, may well be the trigger.

Nieznany is no loner. His political comments on the social-media site Quora received 44,000 views in the first two weeks of November and more than 4 million overall. He is one of many rank-and-file Republicans who own guns and in recent months have talked openly of the need to take down—by force if necessary—a federal government they see as illegitimate, overreaching and corrosive to American freedom.

The phenomenon goes well beyond the growth of militias, which have been a feature of American life at least since the Ku Klux Klan rose to power after the Civil War. Groups like the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, which took part in the January 6th riot at the Capitol and may have played organizational roles, have grown in membership. Law enforcement has long tracked and often infiltrated these groups. What Nieznany represents is something else entirely: a much larger and more diffuse movement of more-or-less ordinary people, stoked by misinformation, knitted together by social media and well-armed. In 2020, 17 million Americans bought 40 million guns and in 2021 were on track to add another 20 million. If historical trends hold, the buyers will be overwhelmingly white, Republican and southern or rural.</blockquote>

It was not a 'disruption', had the rioters gotten a hold of the vice-president at the time, or a democratic member of congress, or a republican member of congress they deemed as 'disloyal to Trump' they WOULD have killed them.

And they were aided and abetted by the previous president and conservative members of congress.

They were not punished and so they are still at it. They will most likely achieve victory by the end of this year, and that will be the end of the 'American Experiment'.

Its very important that you understand that these statements are not just me being a partisan 'lefty'. These are objective facts:

We have two political parties here in the US- one is trying to govern a democracy, trying to make sure government functions to help people, and does so while trying to follow the rules and norms of our constitutional democracy. And the other party is trying to tear down all of that, intentionally trying to break and corrupt the system in order to make it easier for them to overthrow our democracy and replace it with a fascist authoritarian state. They are not constrained by the rules or the laws or decency, and so they will win.

The republicans have declared war on our democracy because they are faced with the fact that they cannot hold power if there are free elections. They intentionally catered to racists, sexists, and bigots to get their vote, and that- naturally- alienated most Americans... so now they actively try to suppress the votes of minorities, they Gerrymander so that they can control congress, and despite being a minority they win a hugely inflated number of seats in congress.

They could try to reform themselves so they don't alienate blacks, non-christians, women, homosexuals, and Latinos- but if they do that then the base of bigots and racists they have so carefully cultivated and whipped up into a violent frenzy will turn on them. So they have decided that insurrection is the easier path, and they feed their base lies to keep them in a constant state of panicked outrage so they can be wielded as a weapon when the time comes.

This time next year they will probably win the house and senate- when they do they will obstruct and cripple our government in hopes that the harm caused to the american people will lessen the chances that Biden (or a democratic successor) will be re-elected. They likely will attempt to Impeach Biden on 'Trumped-up' charges.

They are passing laws in republican states to make it possible for them to override the votes of the people in the next presidential election if the people vote against them.

American democracy has 2-3 years left. IF by some miracle a democrat manages to win the presidency in 2024, the republicans WILL resort to violence that will be far more bloody and effective than January 6th was.

We have monsters in our midst, and the democrats keep thinking they can be reasoned with- they can be calmed down. That is simply suicide.

Republicans have declared war, and the democrats try to play nice- so of COURSE they will lose.

It is such a colossal tragedy- for America and the world, and the people that voted for Trump are responsible for it.
