Should I do some searching?

This recording medium could have a lifetime of billions of years if the suitable glass or, preferably crystal, is used. I would use diamond wafers myself- 1cmx1cmx0.5mm, like the ones I use in my femtosecond laser welding experiments.

Launched into space with a moderate amount of shielding- say tucked away deep inside some satellite we could easily expect it to survive many hundreds of millions – even billions- of years. A few tiny wafers could contain the entire contents of the zone, and preserve it until the sun died- or longer if tucked away inside a spacecraft that was leaving our solar system.

If we only had a zoner with an obsessive personality, a pathological need to get the last word, a strong sense of justice and accountability, a sick sense of humor, access to femtosecond lasers and spacecraft… someone that would take great satisfaction in knowing that billions of years from now, long after humans are gone, and our sun has died after erasing our existence from the the solar system- some alien might stumble across the wafers, decode them, and say to itself “Damn, that TB was a real vile asshole!” or “What the hell happened to RobVG?”…

Fortunately we don’t have anyone that maniacal and obsessive here in the zone… right?
