I just found out that after a long run of good luck, my mother caught COVID... she was vaxxed and boosted, but while her assisted living facility doesn't allow unvaxxed to move in, there were a few existing residents that bought the GOP/FOX news bullshit. She only felt mildly ill (we suspect she came down with covid 2 weeks ago, and the rapid home test missed it), until she got what we suspect was an unrelated stomach bug friday and had to be hospitalized where they discovered she was positive and had deep vein thrombosis -DVT (a common aftereffect of covid). She is now in a special rehab facility... The hospital she was initially at was criminally negligent at giving family information and not listening to family concerns- (my brother had to get in a war of words just to get them to examine the evident signs of DVT- if he hadnt they might have never caught it) My mood right now is somewhere around homicidal- I hope you are feeling better…

My eldest was a scholar on the same programme and got the grades required but turned down Oxford they felt it wasn’t the right university for them. My youngest has picked four universities including Oxford. They’ll be doing a free summer school at each one, one of the benefits of being a ‘deprived child’ …. Don’t get me started on labels but we know how to play the system to our advantage as much as the wealthy middle classes do. I I was obviously very delighted when I found out the news.
