I’ve been flipping through one of my copies of The Art of War (there are many translations).
Pretty much everything I read indicates that Putin is doing everything wrong. Logistics, choice of ground, trust in generals, moral of troops, motivation of troops, brutality of troops… He didn’t understand the attributes of Ukrainian resolve and skill and the home field advantage. Not only that, but he also didn’t understand his own army’s deficits. He didn’t understand that they were conscripts. Didn’t know that his generals sent more than half their budgets overseas to buy apartments in London?
He lost when he started this war. He may not be sane. Thousands will die. He will destroy the very thing he wanted. And what he already has.
Makes me sick.
Sun Tzu says:
Chapter 3:
And so in the military –
Knowing the other and knowing oneself
In one hundred battles no danger.
Not knowing the other and knowing oneself,
One victory for one loss.
Not knowing the other and not knowing oneself,
In every battle certain defeat.
-
"Thousands will die"... you are being wildly optimistic
- Because of one man's actions. One.
