I didn't like having to get out and lock the hubs but preferred a manual transmission while off road. There were many times dropping into the lowest gear and just letting the transmission and engine to crawl down a hill. The plug-in hybrid I have now has a Continuous Transmission. I always drive an automatic in NZ, mainly because of the twisty turny mountain roads, all alike. It’s just one less thing to think about.
