We have shelters and programs to help. But the shelters are very strict about alcohol and drug use, so many homeless don't go there. So they camp out in city parks and open space. Where they camp, they trash. It's really sad and at times scary. There are bike paths we don't go on anymore because of the camps. Hypodermic needles laying on the path. Piles of chopped, stolen bicycles. Figures in the shadows close enough to jump. I don't know the answer. I have sympathy for their plight. But I also don't want to be afraid while riding my bike.
