How convenient June 26, 2022 7:30 am ER

Just when the Jan 6 Committee is making progress, not only in uncovering incriminating facts, but getting the attention of the nation with a beautiful presentation, suddenly, the Supreme Court hits us with a triple whammy. First, abortion rights receive a severe blow. That wasn’t totally unanticipated, but it was rather abrupt, done way before it was expected, and accompanied by other rulings that set the stage for the total nationwide dismantling of Roe v Wade down the line. Suddenly, not only is that bit of agenda taken off the table way before the election, it also diverts the national conversation away from the fascist coup and moved over to a social/cultural issue. How convenient.

But wait, there’s more. Simultaneously, after events finally force a minor gun control bill to the President’s desk (because of the horrendous increase in school shootouts), the court guts the constitutionality of several states’ gun carry regulations. Its almost as if a final sop is handed to the gun lobby while its still possible because national moods seem to be possibly changing.

If I was a suspicious kind of guy I might think some unfinished business was being taken care of while it was still possible to get it done, and timed to the upcoming midterms–not to mention–distracting the country’s attention from other issues so that they’ll calm down before the elections. The nation’s attention span being so notoriously short…y’know.

How convenient.
