Years ago, we had fun pretending to write a movie script to describe the first years of the Trump era. I gave up because of the absurdity of the plot. And here we are. With big name actors. Perhaps many, if not most, of its people may not deserve that fate. But that makes little difference. I'm sure the average German did not deserve Hitler, and the average Russian does not deserve Putin, but they got them anyway. The universe is not fair, and it punishes indifference just as much as it does evil. I'm becoming very discouraged by all this. Fascism and tyranny are nothing new, they've been around since Christ was a corporal. They succeed not because people are bad, but because they are lazy. Regardless of how well the hearings make their case, if they don’t elicit an immediate response by the public to bring the GOP and the Trump gang to justice then this country deserves to become a fascist dictatorship.

Perhaps many, if not most, of its people may not deserve that fate. But that makes little difference. I’m sure the average German did not deserve Hitler, and the average Russian does not deserve Putin, but they got them anyway.
