I wonder...

Obama scared the shit out of them. He was elected once, but they thought that might be a fluke. But then he was elected again...and they realized that...the jig is up!

The last, final bastion of hegemony was overrun. They knew they might get one of their own elected again, as they did with Trump using an electoral college technicality, but they realized that victory could no longer be guaranteed. The Nazification of America began with Trump, but he really didn't cause it. It was the realization that there were more Obamas in their future that mobilized the Right to total war.

At least republicans have passed a few bipartisan bills with Biden. The $1T infrastructure bill is most noteworthy but the CHIPs bill is also huge. Obama couldn't get anything. Not one piece of bipartisan legislation in 8 years. Not even a puny $50M infrastructure bill he tried for late in his presidency.

I wonder what the difference is between Biden and Obama for republicans? It must something...? I just can't put my finger on it?

They need to constantly hammer away how, with the thinnest of majorities in the House and Senate, Biden will have passed historic legislation addressing pandemic recovery, infrastructure, innovation, health care, climate, gun safety, and inflation. Also they need to shout every single day about abortion rights and January 6.

The things you mentioned need to be publicized much more effectively. Especially over the next hundred days.

Biden is not the sharpest tool in the shed, and he's way past his sell-by date, but he's basically a decent man who knows how the system works, and who understands that the culture has a certain inertia that cannot be violated without threatening to bring the whole machinery crashing down. And he does have one overwhelmingly saving grace: he surrounds himself with good people who know what the hell they are doing. He may not always be right, but he is TRYING to do the right thing.

The forces of darkness are uniting under one banner. They are characterized by fundamentalist religion, racial bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, political chauvinism, toxic nationalism, malignant exceptionalism and xenophobia. They have given into scapegoating, ignorance, fear and hatred, and they are led and fueled by institutionalized corporate greed and indifference.
They are convinced the rest of the nation, and the world, can only prosper if they are getting everything they want. But they can never get enough, and they are terrified they will lose everything they have.

Biden can be justifiably criticized on a number of issues, but that is not what motivates political opposition to the man. His enemies don't just think his policies can't solve our problems, they are bound and determined to see to it that he doesn't solve any problems at all. His enemies no longer have disagreement with what he's doing, they are determined to sabotage anything he's doing. They oppose everything he does, even if they supported those policies themselves only yesterday, because they want chaos and collapse so they can step in and rescue their civilization. They are convinced only they can bring about the world they want to live in, and that only they know what that world should look like. And they are convinced the only way they can bring it about is to destroy and discredit everyone else.

I'm old enough to know the kind of world they want, I've been catching glimpses of it in our political dialogue for over a half century now. I know what they want, what they are willing to do to get it, and what they are ready to do if they don't. I don't want to live in their world if they win.
