Just read that he passed away yesterday at the age of 89. I had the honor of training with him a couple times back in the 90s. RIP to a legend.

Seagal was known for many years as being a complete dick on the movie set. In the movie Executive Decision with Kurt Russell, Russell threatened to leave the picture because Seagal was such a prick. They changed the script and killed Seagal's character off early in the movie because of it. Seagal was also known for deliberately hurting other actors and stuntmen on the set. Kicking them in the nuts, over applying holds, etc. He famously tried to fuck with wrestling and martial arts legend Judo Gene Lebell on a movie set and Lebell put him to sleep with a choke hold, making Seagal actually shit his pants in the process. Lebell confirmed this story to Joe Rogan.

Expert in Akido but never seemed to get the message of that martial art (Disclosure: I attended a dojo once upon a time.) In its primary form, Siddhartha’s transformation was one of the path of peace. At its core, the art of Akido is to avoid conflict. And if conflict is forced upon you, the goal is to deescalate, to subdue your aggressor without harm. The moves are very effective fulfilling that objective. You are taught to never use these skills unless in the dojo or at absolute final need.

He is a disgrace to both Buddhism and Akido.
