Obviously has a strong interest in international affairs. Open minded and well informed. I hope he has many good teachers for a long time to keep feeding his sharp and curious mind.

The initial essay was detailed and well written, but didn't quite tie it all together. His response to your question was better. I made a short post as well but it has not yet been approved.

His response to my comment was more cogent and reasoned than his initial introductory essay! I chose not to tell him this in the blog so as not to embarrass him publicly, but please feel free to pass it on to him.

I am a (retired) professional geographer myself, although my career emphasis was more in the remote sensing/cartography/earth resource management and geomatics disciplines. Although geopolitics was not my specialty, I do have an intense interest in the field, as you have no doubt noticed in my posts here.

It is unfortunate that academic geography has tended to de-emphasize geopolitical thought; perhaps because it has been so often used to justify crime and coercion on an international scale. But the fact remains, the field must be advanced, if for no other reason, the bad guys are always keen students of it. Even when they misapply and pervert its insights, they still substantially rely on them.

My hero was Reclus, not Mahan or Mackinder.

Each time she plans a lesson to do with geopolitics she has it at the back of her mind that she needs to have read more than the granule has as she knows he will have read a lot.

And offered to pay for the entry level site but he doesn’t want me to spend the money, he’s going to look at the comments position. I’ve offered to do that side of it for him but he’s fiercely independent.

He appreciates the feedback.thanks.

Haven't checked my usual email for these things, but I checked the box. Said it was subject to review. My comment has not shown up after reloading the page.

Suggest he crank down on the approved comments. Open the door to replies. I'm sure he doesn't have time to approve every comment. Might result in a flurry of spam, though, in which case he can always shut that door a bit.

Airlock security is a flux. Especially when building a site. The time spent with approval / deletion term verses content generation / engagement. Does he spend more time approving comments than deleting them? Writing verses discussing?

I'd say open the air lock to all, without approval. See how it goes. We learn by doing.

If he is looking for feedback / discussion, can he find a way of formatting the page layout so the comments come directly after his post? Otherwise they are lost at the bottom of the scroll.
