And that's exactly why I use it.

I don't normally use shock just to make a point, but there are times when I feel its justified. I don't say 'doo-doo' when I mean 'shit'.
Consistently using euphemisms trivializes the word, and its abuse. I will not do that.

As for creepy trans people, meet me on "Community" and I'll give you the name of a trans person who is truly a national treasure. I'll use that forum because it is not open to non-Zone lurkers, and this person does not like their gender issues publicized.

Gay people have been largely accepted by most of society, with of course the exception of older christian fundamentalists. Trans people are really the last group of people who face open and harsh intolerance. I've admitted myself that I find trans people to be a little creepy but I will never tread on anyone's rights, or be rude to them for who they are.

I find your use of the N word offensive and unnecessary in this or any context. I don't like it even when black people say it but I understand it's part of black culture and it's a way to desensitize themselves to it. That word, like no other, encapsulates the entire history of slavery, dehumanization, physical abuse, sexual abuse, discrimination, et al, that black people have suffered for many centuries. I consider it the worst word in the language.

I know transgendered people. They don't want to stand out, they want to fit in, to not be noticed, to just be themselves. That's why I think drag is silly. It is performance. It is supposed to be shocking. There's no purpose to display it to children because it creates a wrong impression of transgendered people, one that will linger.

And while we are on it, I think that the Disney Princess Effect is just as dangerous for young people. Designed to sell products, it imposes expectations of manners and appearance that are unrealistic. And the stories are awful.

Yes, I have to admit, grown men dressing up in women's clothes and pretending to be little girls is definitely cringeworthy. But look at it this way; anything that pisses Fascists off this much can't be all bad.

The whole anti-queer schtick is the last bastion of intolerance. They are the last demographic that its OK to hate, and lately it has been making great strides in gaining public acceptance, especially among those goddam LIBS! That is why the champions of indignant orthodoxy are mounting such a spirited opposition. Note how they pick the most unpleasant and outrageous examples on this particular creepscape to illustrate their points. And of course, if one of these life forms just happens to be a sexual pervert, or a pedophile, that must prove their case, right? Does this mean that straight dudes who dress conventionally and are also pedophiles are, therefore, OK?

Substitute "commie", or "nigger", of "Jew" for the LGBwhatever adjectives in that harangue and you'll realize we've seen all this before, and for the same reason. After all, I'm sure some Communists, blacks and Jews are pervs, right? Which logically proves that those crimes against children are totally absent on the Right.

Yes, I DO find this cross-dressers' invasion of the classroom very disturbing. And yes, I find behavior directed at children that is normally only seen on the burlesque stage or in adult media potentially dangerous to children. Yes, I get it. It bothers me too. And we should do something about it.

But we live in a society that spends enormous amounts of money marketing to kids, cynically exploiting them (and by extension, their parents) for financial gain. Whether it be boy bands, non-nutritious snack food, Barbie dolls, subteen sexpot fashion, advanced nicotine delivery systems; we are saturated with advertising using the most subtle techniques of psychological suggestion and persuasion, as well as the most advanced mass communications technologies, to steal from children. Why is there no sanctimonious self-righteous outrage on the Right about that?

What I'm seeing here is not an opposition to a culture that is acting in ways that are potentially harmful to children. It is more a means of discrediting and undermining an ideology that champions (perhaps a bit too enthusiastically) tolerance and inclusiveness.
