I came across a reference to a paper about the acoustic nature of the Iceland Volcano. But it was pay walled. They wanted $40 dollars to read it.

Really? That’s just silly. No.

So, I emailed the lead author, who is in New Zealand, and he sent me a copy. Like we used to do with a post card. He also said that if I have any questions about the research, he’d be happy to answer.

Over the years I have often cold e-mailed geologists for more information. Sweden, Iceland, New Zealand… They all have graciously replied.

That’s science.
