'I don’t even know what the heck is a pronoun' December 6, 2022 5:53 am ER

Herschel Walker appears to be a profoundly stupid man, but that alone means little. I’m sure there are really dumb Democrats too. Still, it is remarkable how a man who could utter publicly something like this;

“They’re bringing pronouns into our military, they’re bringing wokeness into our military—I don’t even know what the heck is a pronoun,” he said at a rally Sunday. “I can tell you that I’m sick and tired of this pronoun stuff. What I want our military men and women to do is to be at war fighting.” Fighting whom? Doesn’t matter—just go to war, please. We love a good war.

is being supported by his party in the Georgia Senate elections.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) was a part of Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker’s final campaign push on Sunday afternoon, two days before the runoff vote between him and sitting Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock (D). While Walker himself had a number of odd things to say over the weekend, it looks like fake folksy Kennedy was intent on adding his voice to the bizarre chorus.

Kennedy, while wearing a sticker reading “RUN HERSCHEL RUN,” railed against “these high IQ stupid people” running around Congress at a campaign stop in Loganville, Georgia, on Sunday afternoon. “These high IQ stupid people have an answer for everything. You know why? Because they think they’re smarter and more virtuous than the American people,” he said.

No, I’m not saying Republicans are dumber than Democrats. I’ve heard Sen Kennedy speak before, he is a highly educated and articulate man. (Read the linked article) What I am saying is the Republicans have chosen to embrace stupidity, to celebrate it, to honor and promote it, for purely political reasons. They have calculated that by appealing to the most moronic elements of our society they can further their own agenda. We have already seen how they have chosen to embrace racism, fanatical religious fundamentalism and fascism for the same reasons. This is the price the GOP is willing to pay for corporate tax relief, regulatory reform, and the dismantling of the welfare state. This not only tells us a great deal about that agenda, but about the morality that guides those that follow it.

Yes, Senator. We ARE smarter and more virtuous than you are. This isn’t just about ideology and philosophy and culture any more. Those are indeed topics upon which we can conduct a debate. This is about pure evil. That is what American Conservatism has introduced into our politics.
