I love Canada. I’ve visited many times, worked for a Canadian firm, have many friends from up north. Honestly, the States could learn much from that “younger sibling.”

It’s not so much “envy”, it’s more like a child resenting a brother or sister for being showered with attention and living in the limelight.
Canadians share our compassion for Ukraine and will likely cover the speech tomorrow and in the days to come. We’ll see.
I like Canadians too. In fact, I’m going to marry one. She comes complete with three grown children and two grand kids and all of them are starting to adopt me.

(It’s not easy to become part of a family, especially later in life. It takes time and you have to prove yourself worthy)

But I do agree they seem to have an inferiority complex about the US. Canadian artists and entertainers always seem to think they haven’t really “made it” unless they make it big in the USA.

I’m surprised the Zelenskyy speech wasn’t covered in the Canadian press. But why should that be evidence of an “inferiority complex”? It would seem that might be evidence of envy. But why envy? Do they resent the Ukrainian leaders gratitude to the USA? Don’t they share our opinion about the justice of the Ukrainian cause?*

Besides, I see no reason why they should envy America. They possess many of the virtues of our country with few of its flaws. They have no reason to feel inferior or to envy us.
