I think bro knew what my politics were and simply avoided the subject for my sake, But he makes no effort to hide his politics now. His latest encounter with misinformation on the net was with this little gem: The Chinese army has issued its soldiers with exploding "suicide helmets" that can be detonated by any trooper injured or in danger of being captured, or which can be exploded remotely by their commanders if they suspect either. When I pointed out that this was patently absurd, that it would be extremely expensive to implement this technology and vulnerable to exploitation by a tech-savvy enemy. I also pointed out that discouraging soldiers' surrender was why officers were issued pistols, it was totally ridiculous to think such baroque measures were necessary to ensure discipline (besides, couldn't you just remove your helmet if you wanted to give up?). If a soldier really wanted to kill himself, he has firearms and explosives at his disposal, an electric boom hat would not be necessary.
