Outside work he was a compassionate, supportive human being".

That alone should tell you a great deal.

And of course, Hitler was great with dogs and kids.

The Hitler comparison is a bit surprising. I would think there are significant differences in changing the world for the better verses for the worse. Creating the IPhone verses the Holocaust?

I was never a fan of the guy myself, but the reports about Jobs personally are mixed. In a the business environment he could be brutal to people. Outside work he was a compassionate, supportive human being.

but I think the way he communicates it reveals something deeper, and uglier, in his character, and those of people like him.

There is an arrogance there, a narcissism, a contempt for those who are not like him that I find troubling. There is no denying he was a talented man, one who changed our world, all by himself. But you can say the same about Hitler.

There are geniuses in art, and science, like Steve Jobs. But for some reason I don't find them as threatening as I do those who go into business or politics.

I can't fully articulate why, perhaps it is just a personal prejudice of mine, but I am troubled and repelled by men like him, and by those who are attracted to men like him.

I would suspect he is talking about this is relation to developing brand new products. I certainly never thought I would need a smart phone back when all that was available were standard cell phones. Now I can't live without it.

Yeah I know, using marketing techniques to sell things to people that they don't really need is a thing. But we're talking about Steve Jobs here.
