but I don’t think that plane was shot down by flak. It appears to have been at cruising altitude, and it suffered a catastrophic failure. My guess is it was out of range of AA guns or shoulder-fired rockets.

My guess is it was taken down by high altitude air defense missile, fire from an intercepting aircraft, or an onboard explosion.

My guess is that the “official” investigation will conclude it was just an unfortunate accident or mechanical failure.

Prigo was on the plane’s manifest and reportedly all 10 people on board died.

I’m sure you read the reports a few days ago about Prigo going to his hometown in St Petersberg, recovering about $110m of his money that had been confiscated by the Kremlin (the banks there immediately returned the money to him), as well as a number of his personal weapons. He is then known to have flown to Moscow. The word is he has reestablished control over his Wagner mercenaries from the MoD, who were trying to integrate them under their command. Wagner forces have not moved to Belarus and remain in their camps in Russia and Ukraine, and Prigo is a free man moving about Russia.

This is startling news! It indicates how shockingly weak Putin appears to be right now.
