An intern working in our group was in Chile last week, where it is 'Winter'... she reported the temperatures where she was were 100 degrees F.

I will be travelling to Canberra Australia again for work in November/December and I am NOT looking forward to the heat...

The Earth's Jet streams are in a state of chaos not seen before.

The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Current (AMOC) is showing signs that collapse is imminent

The turning point has been passed, and NOW folks like TB will use that as an excuse to continue to do nothing about CO2 emissions- of course the fact that it is too late to stop catastrophe does NOT mean it makes sense to do nothing, it means we must take whatever steps required to minimize the magnitude of that catastrophe.

I am not optimistic- by the end of this century we will see the deaths of 100's of millions (IF we are very lucky) or, more likely, billions as a direct result of this climate change (and the chaos and turmoil it will lead to) that is only just starting- even if we stopped all CO2 emissions today we are committed to catastrophe. Now its all about mitigating the severity, and we are doing nowhere enough, and what little we ARE doing in the USA, the Republicans are committed to UN-doing.
