It is the 262nd day of the year and Arctic Sea Ice Extent (SIE) has still not hit rock bottom.
The latest SIE reported is 4.2 x 10^6 km^2.

The following seasons have beat 2023 for this dubious honor. I have listed them here along with the day of lowest SIE and the SIE (in millions of sq km, rounded to the nearest 10^5).

2012, 260, 3.4
2020, 260, 3.8
2016, 254, 4.2
2007, 261, 4.2
2019, 261, 4.2

Keep in mind the median date and SIE for the 1979-2023 satellite era is 261, 6.3 million sq km
