They know they have a lot more to lose if they don't back down. Bibi may want a broader war but he knows Biden and the rest of the world don't. But, by committing war crimes and genocide while restricting the information on these crimes from the Israeli population he has created a narrative to sell to his people that it's Israel against the world... and portray himself as the strong-man Israel needs to stand alone against the world.
