No

Enough to bury a small fishing village and consume it's port, though.

As with all volcanos, Location, Location, Location.

Some were allowed back in to get more stuff, including animals.

A good link for updates: https://www.ruv.is/frettir/efni/jardhraeringar-a-reykjanesskaga

You might have to stick in a babble fish, translator microbes...

Expect weird translations.

I'm following this hourly, as a geologist, it is fascinating to watch in real time. There is a lot of information available online, down to raw seismic data.

But hoping it pops further north along the intrusion, don't like seeing homes and businesses destroyed. If it pops at all.

Is the temperature of the ground really a good indicator?

Also- it said there were 6 million cubic meters of lava? Thats not all that much, is it?

One of the social media places I inhabit have been observing the recent eruptions in Iceland in great depth. Some of them are from Iceland, one from the area of concern. I've never been, but through these conversations, I consider I have friends there.

We really don't know what is going to happen there. But everyone hopes it will be a "tourist volcano" like the last three events.

I've done some research on power sources and distribution in Iceland. Reykjavik should be okay since it gets its power from hydro electric plants. Keflavik could lose power and hot water if Svartsengi Geothermal Power Plant is damaged or destroyed, and since that is were the international airport is that could cause big problems. Grindavik is indeed potentially in the path of the monster only a few kilometers away, and could suffer far worse than power and hot water outages.

Having visited this area myself it is more than detatched concern I feel.

Yeah, the article is jumping in midstream here, this has been going on for a few weeks. So the locals pretty much know where they are talking about. The geothermal power plant supplies not only electrons to the grid, but all the hot water to local cities. That's how they heat their homes and use hot water. If this basaltic eruption (It will be similar to the recent three eruptions) happens near the plant and the blue lagoon, it will get weird for the residents. There is the possibility that Grindavik on the coast could be the best way for the lava to flow.

My contact in Grindavik says it has been pretty much like before the previous events. The local government has been very active in monitoring and preparing. There are a few live internet cameras trained on the area from high view points.

Reykjavik and the airport do not seem under concern. The GPS and seismic are all pointing to a magmatic horizontal sill growing about 4 klicks down, just southwest of the plant. It's trying to find a way up. Will it? Time will tell.

WTF is "the area"? This is the kind of vague statement that pisses me off. How about some meaningful measurement reference? Svartsengi Geothermal Power Plant is about 30km from Reykjavik, and less than 15km from the international airport at Keflavik. Given the nature of this type of volcano (it's certainly not a stratovolcano) I'm assuming they are not suggesting evacuating anyone that distance away.
