No matter how badly Biden performs, I doubt it will convince any of his followers to vote for Trump. And if the latter makes a total fool of himself, his followers will be able to rationalize it away as the Wisdom of the Master. I myself cannot see myself voting for Trump regardless of how well he performs, or how badly Biden stumbles.

Supposedly, the debate will be most meaningful to the undecided, those on the fence. I may be mistaken, but I simply can't imagine anyone still being uncertain about who he or she favors.

What really concerns me is the VP debate, if there will be one. Both men are old enough that there is a good chance neither will finish his term. I have little confidence in Ms Harris, and the most likely GOP VP candidate, JD Vance, is an intelligent and highly articulate man. His unabashed support and fawning admiration for Trump (after an initial distaste of him) only convinces me he is a totally unprincipled opportunist. Most of the sycophants in Trump's circle can be fairly described this way, but Vance is the only one with the smarts to play it to his own advantage. I suspect he despises Trump but sees he has stumbled onto a way to leapfrog into the White House without serving a long apprenticeship in the Republican Party.

JD scares the shit out of me. Trump is a Mussolini clone, but Vance reminds me of Vladimir Lenin.
